In an announcement made by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), it has been revealed that holders of visit visas for family or friends, valid for 30, 60, or 90 days, are now eligible for a one-time 30-day extension. This extension allows visitors to stay in the country for an additional 30 days, subject to certain conditions.
To avail of the extension service, tourists must be physically present in the UAE during the application submission and have at least six months of passport validity. Along with the original entry permit, applicants must provide a colored personal photo that meets the required specifications. The process has been made easier with the introduction of the "UAEICP" smart application, which simplifies the submission and approval of visa extension requests.

The cost breakdown for the 30-day extension is as follows: Dh500 for issuing fees, Dh100 for the application fee, Dh100 for monthly smart services, and Dh50 for IA fees and insurance premiums. After a waiting period of 30 days, applications with missing data or incomplete documentation will be electronically denied. If an application receives three such denials, it will be permanently declined.
Refunds are available only for the issuing fees and any financial guarantees. Within a maximum of five years, refunds can be made through credit card within six months of application submission or through a check or bank transfer for UAE-based banks.

The Federal Authority's innovative application has simplified the process of requesting visit visas for friends and relatives outside the UAE. However, certain prerequisites must be met, such as providing evidence of the relationship and reason for the visit. If the visitor is a foreign wife visiting her GCC citizen husband, she must possess a valid residency permit in her husband's country of residence.
