The primary objective of NESTS is to establish Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs) that provide quality education to students belonging to the Scheduled Tribes (ST) category from Class VI to XII. These residential schools will be set up at the block level, with separate hostels for boys and girls, accommodation for teachers, mess facilities, playgrounds, and other necessary amenities similar to Navodaya Vidyalayas.
Selection process
The recruitment process will involve a written examination, which will be conducted in an OMR-based (Pen-Paper) mode. The examination will be available in both Hindi and English languages. For the post of PGT, the test for the domain knowledge will be conducted in the concerned third language.

Eligibility criteria for candidates
Candidates applying for the Principal post should have a Master's degree, B.Ed. degree, and at least 12 years of combined experience as Vice Principal, PGT, or TGT, with a minimum of 4 years as PGT or above. For the PGT post, candidates should possess a post-graduate degree in the relevant subject.
