Dubai Municipality has taken a precautionary step amidst the erratic weather conditions prevailing across the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by announcing the temporary closure of public parks and night swimming beaches starting from Sunday, August 6.
This decision comes as heavy rains and unstable weather conditions have impacted the country since Friday, August 4, causing hailstorms and disruptions in various regions, including the city of Al Ain.
The announcement was made through the municipality's official social media channels, with a post stating, "Dubai Municipality announces the temporary closure of public parks from 6 pm today, as a safety measure due to the prevailing weather conditions in #Dubai. Stay safe."
Furthermore, to ensure the safety of residents and visitors, night swimming activities at Dubai's beaches have also been temporarily suspended.
The municipality's emergency response teams have been actively addressing the aftermath of the severe weather. Over the weekend, the municipality received around 100 emergency calls related to incidents caused by the heavy rains and sandstorms. Fallen trees and accumulated water were among the issues tackled by the response teams.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has predicted that more rain is expected in certain areas, including Sharjah, Fujairah, and Al Ain, on Monday. The weather is expected to be partly cloudy with occasional dust, and the NCM has warned of convective clouds forming over some areas during the afternoon, leading to precipitation. Coastal areas are anticipated to experience wet conditions overnight and on Tuesday morning, August 8.
Temperatures across the UAE are expected to remain high, ranging from 35 to 49 degrees Celsius. As the weather continues to fluctuate, authorities are encouraging residents and visitors to stay informed about weather updates and adhere to safety advisories to minimize risks associated with the ongoing unstable weather conditions.
